An Important Message from Station Manager Georgie Woessner
To our Classical 88.1 listeners, Governor Strickland proposed significant new state budget cuts on Friday, June 19th. His proposed budget for the next two years recommends roughly a 30% reduction in funding for public broadcasting. I certainly recognize that these are difficult times but a 30% reduction is an unreasonable burden and will adversely impact our ability to serve our listening audience. Last year Classical 88.1 received nearly $47,000 in subsidies and $134,000 in technical support from the state. These cuts would have a severe consequence for us. The Governor is committed to having a balanced budget in place by this Tuesday, June 30. Please take a moment to call or email your legislators and tell them you support state funding for public broadcasting. For your convenience, the contact information for our local state senators and representatives can be found here. Many, many thanks. Georgie Woessner
