If a composer could say what he had to say in words he would not bother trying to say it in music. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Gustav Mahler. To mark the occasion, beginning in September, Bob Johnstone on A Musical Offering (Sundays 2-6PM) will feature a Mahler Retrospective, all 10 Mahler symphonies (including the Deryck Cooke realization of No. 10, left incomplete at the composer’s death) and five of Mahler’s choral/vocal works.
