HOMETOWN
I grew up in Bellbrook when it was mostly farm fields. After college
in Chicago, I returned to Dayton and now live in the Oregon District.
FAMILY
My parents and two older sisters also live in the Dayton area.
ACTIVITIES / HOBBIES/ INTERESTS
I have been involved in music in various forms throughout my life. I've
sung with college choirs, The Bach Society of Dayton and the Springfield
Symphony. I also spent many years studying and performing piano.
I love film, though I don't care much for movies. I read deeply,
though most of what I read is not deep.
In 2004 I purchased a camera on an impulse and it has changed my life. I
always have it with me now and I take pictures every day. I probably
have a photography exhibition coming up soon.
MY FAVORITE BOOK
"Silas Marner" (1861) by George Eliot is a beautiful story of human-to-human
redemption.
MY FAVORITE MOVIE
"Brazil" (1985) directed by Terry Gilliam confused me then and depresses
me now, but gave me my first glimpse of the power of film.
MY FAVORITE COMPOSER / MUSIC
I've yet to hear a note by Handel that was unpleasant to me.
MY PASSION
I am constantly exploring and experiencing art in its many manifestations,
either by taking classes or just studying on my own. My personal
efforts at creativity are limited, but through books, galleries, films
and concerts I can enjoy the extraordinary genius of others.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT DAYTON
I really like the manageable size of the city. I live on one side
of downtown and can walk to the other side with little effort.
Though it's not a huge city, there are always plenty of interesting
things to do in Dayton.
