ACTIVITIES / HOBBIES / INTERESTS
Radio announcer more than 50 years
(commercial and public radio); started as rock 'n' roll DJ while
a teenager in the 1950s. Narrator and Master of Ceremonies for numerous events
at Wright- Patterson AFB and throughout the Dayton community for more
than 30 years; known as the Voice of the National Museum of the United
States Air Force. Amateur actor, singer, dancer (I can still do "Trouble" from "The
Music Man" on a moment's notice!)
MY FAVORITE BOOKS
Years
ago, I would have said books such as James Michener's "The Source" and
Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead" for
imagination and story-telling skills in areas of special interest.
Now,
I prefer books on history plus current world political and theological
considerations that directly impact the future of our civilization
and our way of life
MY FAVORITE MOVIE(s)
I enjoy comedies, suspense, and science fiction from
1950s and '60s, like "Forbidden
Planet", "The Pink Panther", "Charade", "North
to Alaska", "The Hallelujah Trail", and of course, "Gone
with the Wind" and "Citizen Kane".
MY FAVORITE COMPOSER / MUSIC
I
tend to love much of the piano literature, especially the big romantic
concertos, as well as Mozart's, Beethoven's, Liszt's, and Ravel's jazzy
two; but because the beautiful, uplifting, exciting, unforgettable music
of the classical world extends across all time periods, styles, lengths,
and instrumental combinations, what I would call "favorites" are
simply everywhere.
MY PASSION
Assuring
that my precious grandchildren grow up and succeed in the best possible
world that we who love them can provide.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT DAYTON
Everything
I love to be involved with is available right here in Dayton--education,
music, theatre, dance, broadcasting, aviation. I have never lived
anywhere else in the world that so easily and so completely fills that
bill. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
